2015 Advanced Training Program

2015 Advanced Training Program

Central Michigan Karate club completed the first of 12 Advanced Training Sessions scheduled for 2015 on Saturday January 24th. The training sessions are open to Red and Black belt club members to focus on forms, self-defense, fighting and other topics.  This information will then be passed on to the different clubs by the instructor.

Special Thanks to all who attended the event, especially those teaching this month.

Semester ends with Karate Testings

 
The Central Michigan Karate Club ended the fall 2014 semester with 37 members testing at three different events.  Students tested for various ranks in every belt category including: Red, Green, Purple and Yellow.  The results from November testing events are posted here and the final results of Saturday's test will be passed out by instructors at the next class.


Great job this semester to everyone: students, instructors, friends and family!  
Enjoy the time off and see everyone in January as we prepare for the 2015 tournament circuit, seminars and other fun events.

Edmore Parade - August 23rd 2014

Special thanks to all the Central Michigan Karate Students who participated in the 2014 Edmore Potato Festival Parade last Saturday.  Thank You to all the parents, brothers, sisters and friends who coordinated rides and other things behind the parade lines to get students to the event.

Edmore, MI — August 20, 2014 — Seventeen Karate students from Edmore were awarded new colored belts and rank promotions in class last night.  The students tested on August 13th as the summer session came to an end marking the 2nd anniversary of the Endeavor Center operating in Edmore.  Special thanks to all the friends and family who support the students in their training.

Testing Results are as Follows:
Green Belt (5th gup) – Jaxon Sawyer. 
Green Belt (6th gup) – Riley Daily, Graem Halsey, Jesse Forquer and Kali Forquer. 
Purple Belt (8th gup) – Sarah Minkle, Silas Halsey, Ethan Outman, Olivia Outman, Bria Krzymicki and Madison Wrisley. 
White Belt (9th gup) – Koren Forquer
Yellow Belt (Y-2) – Joslyn Outman.
Yellow Belt (Y-1) –Dante Nichols, Jenna Birch, Justin Birch and Jayden Allen.

The Endeavor Center for Youth and Community Development was founded in 2012 to impact young lives, families and the local community.  Located at 302 West Main Street in Edmore, it offers programs to the Montabella Community and surrounding areas encouraging people to Grow, Play and Learn.

Central Michigan Karate Club was founded in 1969 and has offered a pathway to martial arts for over 45 years.  Training locations include: Mid Michigan Community College, Central Michigan University, The Endeavor Center in Edmore and the Harrison Karate Club.

Summer Karate Testing - Wed Aug 13th @ 7 pm


Summer Karate training is wrapping up for Central Michigan Karate Students.  Many students work hard during the hot summer days to learn new skills and increase their proficiency in forms. A summer karate testing has been scheduled to evaluate student progress and rank advancement.

On Wednesday August 13, 2014 the Edmore Karate Club will host the Summer 2014 Karate Testing starting at 7:00 PM at the Endeavor Center located at 302 West Main Street, Edmore, MI 48829.  

CMK students who have been recommended by their instructor(s) may attend the event.  If you have any questions, please contact your instructor.

Reminder: 
All formal testings require a clean Traditional White Karate Uniform.  
The modified uniform allowed for summer training is not acceptable for testing.

Wheelchair and Adaptive Martial Arts at GVSU

Special thanks again to Kelly Case, John Cannon and Jesse Forquer for helping with the Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports Camp at GVSU.  



The turn out was amazing and the people who participated with the martial arts clinic were very enthusiastic.

It is very inspiring watching Mr. Case work with people of all ages and ability levels to demonstrate that anyone with an open mind and willingness to learn can participate in the martial arts.  Over the years he has worked with many instructors to learn how to adapt the techniques of martial arts for people that use wheelchairs.

Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the students joining your fall classes in Kent County.

Adaptive Martial Arts Sessions at GVSU

Central Michigan Karate Club will be helping at the Mary Free Bed  Wheelchair Sports Camp on the Grand Valley State University campus.  Link to event: http://www.maryfreebed.com/sportscamp

Instructor Kelly Case will be running adaptive martial arts events on Wednesday with the assistance of Jesse Forquer of the Edmore Karate group.  Mr. Case is a life long martial artist who teaches from his own experience learning to adapt the martial arts.

Martial Sciences International Seminar

On Saturday July 26th, several members of the Central Michigan Karate club traveled to Canton Michigan to attend a special training session held at Boliard's Martial Arts Studio.  The "Fill In The Blanks" Combat applications of empty hand Martial Arts Kata / Hyung seminar was taught by Mr. John Viol Shihan.
